Birth records begin in 1877 (a few prior to this date); marriage recors begin in 1829.
and death records begin in 1877. The death records state the place of burial.

The Circuit Court holds the probate records from 1830, divorce and civil court records
from 1850, and land records from 1818.

The fees as of December 2004 is $6.00 per search and 50 cents per page for copies. Birth and death records date back to 1877, marriage records date back to 1830.

County Treasurer's Office, First Floor

The Treasurer's Office has responsibility for the Tax Collector's Books.
Many of these volumes have been donated to the local history collection at the
Galena Public Library.
