Mrs. Caroline Leekley dies on Monday Evening After an Illness of Several Years.

Mrs. Caroline Leekley, widow of the late John T. Leekley, passed away at 6:40 o'clock Monday evening, October 4th. Her death came as a release of several years of suffering.

Mrs. Leekley was born near Bristol, England, January 21, 1845. When a child of little more than four years she came to America with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Simon Roberts, and located at Council Hill.

She was married September 19th, 1867 to the late John T. Leekley, who passed away May 24, 1913. To this union were born eight children, one of whom preceded them in death. The children surviving her are: John of Freeport, ILL., Simon and Thomas of Montrose, South Dakota, Kenrick of Mt. Morris, Illinois, Alvin of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. George W. Turner of Wessington Springs, South Dakota, and Mrs. John W. Newsom with whom she has made her home for several years. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Harvey Tobias of Latimer, Iowa.

Many years ago, Mrs. Leekley united with the Methodist Episcopal Church. Though her later years of invalidism prevented attendance at the church services, yet her interest never failed and her faith and trust were triumphant over all pain. Almost her last words were: "The Lord is My Shepard".

A faithful wife, a devoted mother, a kind friend has passed to a great reward.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the residence of her daughter Mrs. John Newsom near Millbrig. Internment will be made in Grant Hill Cemetery.
