In Memoriam-In Memoriam of Frances D. Charter who died January 25th of consumption, after an illness of ten months.

Up through the pathway of stars she has gone,
Up from the shadows to welcome the dawn,
Up from the sorrow of earth's estate,
Safely within the Golden Gate.

Gone from the country of anguish and pain,
Gone where farewells come not again,
Gone to the land for which we wait,
Safely within the Golden Gate.

Gone where the beautiful gate's ajar,
Gone where the many mansions are,
Gone where our vanished loved ones wait,
Safely within the Golden Gate.

Warren Sentinel, February 3, 1881.
