Martha Alice (Crawford) ARGENT  -Mrs. Martha Alice Argent, daughter of Andrew and Anne Crawford, born in Lancaster, Wis., in 1858, died in Galena, Sept. 5, 1924, after a few days illness.  She was the wife of John Argent, who passed to the Great Beyond several years ago.  She leaves to mourn her death, one son, Chester, six grand children and several step children, also one sister, Mrs. Ella Berryman, Cedar Rapids, and two brothers, Andrew of Galena and Tom of Colorado.  Mrs. Argent was a member of the Methodist church of which she was always a faithful worker.  The funeral services were held at the home of Andrew Crawford at 11:30 o'clock Saturday morning and the remains were taken to Cedar Rapids for interment.-The Galena Weekly Gazette, September 11, 1924.
