Mrs. Elsye Kroll, 88, Frentress Lake, East Dubuque, died Monday, Nov. 21 at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa. She was born in Dubuque, Aug 8, 1889, the daughter of the late Charles and Lizzie (Cook) Heller and was the owner-operator of Frentress Lake Summer Resort. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, East Dubuque, and of the W.S.C.S of the church and the Royal Neighbors of America. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Oscar (Anise) Bonnet, East Dubuque and Mrs. John (Helen) Thurston, Eau Claire, Wis., three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 23 from the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, to Wesley Methodist Church with Rev. Ronald Unser conducting the 9am service. Burial was in East Dubuque Cemetery. Casketbearers were Ralph Bonnet, Ray Crowl, Dennis Gansemer, Tom Sheehan, Douglas Temperly, and Charles Vandermillen. Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, were in charge of arrangements.

William Henry Kroll, 75, of Frentress Lake, East Dubuque, died at 11:25 pm Friday at Finley Hospital. Friends may call after 10 am Sunday at the Haudenshield Funeral Home in East Dubuque. Services will be held at 10 am Monday at the Wesley Methodist Church with the Rev. M. C. Melcher officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery. Mr. Kroll was a member of the Masonic Lodge of East Dubuque. He was born at Pipestone, Minn., and had lived in East Dubuque the past 68 years. He owned and operated the Frentress Lake Summer Resort. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elsye Heller Kroll; two daughters, Mrs. Oscar Bonnet of Rt 1 East Dubuque, and Mrs. John Thurston of Eau Claire, Wis.; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Louis Duppler of Allenhurst, N. J.; and two brothers, Elmer of Denver, and Winfield of East Dubuque. Memorials: Wesley Methodist Church and Building Fund. Masonic services will be held at 8 pm Sunday at the funeral home.


Departed this life on Friday, March 17, 1967 at Finley Hospital, William H. Kroll of R R 1 East Dubuque (Frentress Lake), Age 75 years. Beloved husband of Elsye Heller Kroll. Beloved father of Mrs. Oscar Bonnet of R R 1 East Dubuque, Illinois, and Mrs. John Thurston of Eau Claire, Wis. Three grandchildren. Beloved brother of Mrs. Louis Duppler of Allen Hurst, NJ, Elmer Kroll of Denver, Colo. and Winfield Kroll of East Dubuque, Ill. Friends may call at the Haudenshield Funeral Home in East Dubuque after 10 o'clock Sunday morning. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the Wesley Methodist Church with the Rev. M. C. Melcher officiating. Burial in the East Dubuque Cemetery. He was a member of the Masonic Martin Lodge of East Dubuque. It is the wish of the family that flowers be omitted and memorials be given to the Wesley Methodist Church and Building Fund.
