Local Matters

Mr. John Stenstra died at his home in East Galena Saturday night of typhoid dysentery, and his remains were buried in Greenwood Cemetery this afternoon at 2 o'clock. The deceased came to this country from Germany last July and settled in Galena. He and his eldest son, a lad 15 years of age, had been at work on the M. & N. W. tunnel in Rice up to a short time ago, when they were taken ill of typhoid dysentery. The son is quite low. Mr. Stenstra was in very straightened circumstances and the expenses of his funeral will be paid by the county. His widow and nine children survive him.
