Death of
Sarah Atchinson McKenzie

We glean the following concerning the death of Mrs. Sarah McKenzie from the Elizabeth News.

Sarah Atchinson was born in Mercer Co., Pa. Oct. 19, 1822 and died at her home in Woodbine Township March 18, 1907.

She was married to James Madge, and emigrated to Jo Daviess Co. in 1846, taking up their residence in the town of Woodbine. A daughter was born to this union, but she died in early childhood, and her husband also died in 1846.

In April 1858, Mrs. Madge was married to Donald McKenzie, a farmer of Woodbine.

Four children blessed this union; they were Sarah C. who died in 1877, John C., Mary G. now Mrs. Bryson, and William L, the last three surviving their mother. Mr. Donald McKenzie died in 1898.

Mrs. McKenzie was a member of the Presbyterian Church for nearly fifty years, and is highly spoken of by all who knew her as a loving mother, a devoted wife and true Christian woman.

The funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Frank Bryson of Woodbine, at two o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, March 20th, Rev. S. M. Crissman delivering the funeral sermon.
