Death of an Old Settler

Mr. Daniel Kelly, Sr., died at his home on High street, between Gear and South streets, at an early hour this morning, aged 76 years. Mr. Kelly was born in County Limerick, Ireland, and emigrated to this country in 1837. He settled in Boston, Mass., where he resided about three years, when he came to Galena, where he resided up to the time of his death. Mr. Kelly had been in charge of the Spring street bridge for the last ten years. The deceased was an honest and an upright citizen, and leaves a large circle of friends to regret his death. His widow, two sons and one daughter, survive him. The funeral will take place from the family residence at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Services will be conducted at St. Michael's Catholic church at 2:30 o'clock, after which the remains will be interred in the Catholic cemetery on the East Side.
