Obituary

Mrs. Margaret A. Dillon

Mrs. Margaret A. Dillon, whose death occurred at her home in Galena Thursday evening, April 11th, was born in the year 1841 in County Longford, Ireland. She emigrated to America with her parents in 1857. Her maiden name was Margaret A. Tyrrell. The family located at Lowell, Mass., in which city she was married, in 1859 to Michael Fannon. The fruit of their marriage was fifteen children, nine boys and six girls. Eight of the children are dead, and buried at Bellevue, Ia. She resided in Lowell, Mass., till 1879, when the family settled on a farm near Bellevue. Mr. Fannon died in 1889, and in 1890 she rented her farm and moved to Dubuque, where she lived until 1892. She was then united in marriage with Patrick Dillon of Rawlins township. They moved to Galena to reside only a month before her death. The five surviving children are Michael H. Alexander and John J. Fannon, of Dubuque, Mrs. Mary M. O'Hara, of Dubuque, and Miss Margaret A. Fannon, of Galena. The bereaved husband and family have the sympathy of many friends.

A precious one from us has gone.
A voice we loved is stilled.
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
