CONARTY, THOMPSON posted by James A. Wilkinson on Tuesday, May 9, 2000

Subsequent to my earlier query, I learned that Susan L. CONARTY, born 1872 at or near Apple River in JoDaviess Co. married James Roland THOMPSON. I believe they married about 1890. Their first child was born in 1891 in Hastings,Nebraska, but there is no record of a marriage there. I wonder if they got married in JoDaviess County. For some strange reason there is no obituary on either, even though they had 4 of 7 daughters living at the time all in Major County, Oklahoma where they are buried. Please Email me if you find any information..

CONARTY, KING, WALTER posted by James A. Wilkinson on Sunday, May 14, 2000

Since my last message I have determined that Susan L. Conarty was the daughter of Patrick H. CONARTY and Mary Maggie WALTER - md. 2-16-1868. Patrick was the son of Edward CONARTY and Susan KING. One report shows him as Edward Jr. and at about the 1850 census they all lived in Jo Daviess co., Illinois. Susan was born at Apple River. I believe Patrick and Edward came from Ireland after the famine. Anyone with any information on this family, please E mail me. judgejim@pldi.net

MCQUILLAN, NEASON posted by Maggie McQuillan on Wednesday, May 17, 2000

Mary (possibly NEASON) b 1790 and spouse (?) MCQUILLAN, and children James 1818-1863, John 1821-1889, Patrick Edward 1824-1897, Jane 1829-1877, Bernard 1829-1859, and Philip Francis 1834-1877. Also a possible brother of Mary's named John NEASON born about 1802. It's believed, but not proven that they lived in Co. Fermanagh, Ireland at least for a while before they emigrated, and all of them were born in Ireland and died in US, except the father as we have no records for him. They show up in Jo Daviess County in 1840's and some later went to Minnesota.

KIRK posted by Rachel M Downing on Wednesday, May 24, 2000

I was happy to see that the cemetery listings have been updated to include St Marys Catholic Church cemetery in West Galena Township. Several of my ancestors are burried there. My great grandfather James W. KIRK, killed by a train in 1904 is suposed to burried there according to the old Galena Gazette article about his death. Is the list incomplete for that cemetery?

KIRK posted by Rachel M Downing on Wednesday, May 24, 2000

ST Marys cemetery is a two part list, I found James W. KIRK on the other half of the list along with his son Emmet KIRK and a few other ancestors. Once again, thanks to this site and to those who donate their time to post the information. Rachel
