CARSON, CONLEY posted by Dorothy Cline on Wednesday, June 2, 1999

Thanks Marge, I am really interested in Rosemond more than the rest of the family. He married my great aunt about 1879, her name was Marie Conley. I find them in the 1880 census living with Robert and Eliz Carson. Probably have one son named John born in Jan 1880. I noticed Rosmond had land in the very southwestern township of Jo Davies County. Is there any mention of him on the latter plat page? I have ordered the 1900 census from Heritage Quest, but think it is on a real slow boat. They say next week. I want to find this aunt in the worst way.

LYONS posted by Karlene Heinkel on Wednesday, June 9, 1999

Rhoda married William LYONS 3-22-1815? I have conflicting dates here. Could be 1821. Rhoda was born 3-1-1800 and died 3-13-1859. They were married in New York and came to Illinois in 1839. Do you know who Rhoda's parents were and do you know anything about the rest of the Lyons. I am descended from Horace. Horace and Roxy are the only 2 that I have any info on. My grandmother is 91 and she would be real interested if I could find out more. Look forward to hearing from you.

JOHNSON, LYON, MILLET posted by Alice Allen on Thursday, June 10, 1999

I have a whole list of possibilities for Rhoda Millet Lyon's father, but nothing concrete. I've spent a lot of time over the last few years trying to nail this Millet family down. Samuel Henry Johnson (Roxy Lyon's husband) was married first to Mary Millet. Their son Samuel Henry JOHNSON (Jr.) is my great grandfather.

HIGGINS, JOYNT posted by Joe Higgins on Thursday, June 10, 1999

I am looking for information on great grandparents married in November 1855 in Jo Daviess county. All I know is that my great grandmother, Bridget JOYNT HIGGINS moved to Galena,Ill. with her family from Binghamton,New York sometime after 1849.My grandmother's father's name was David JOYNT, and that she was the oldest of ten children.

HIGGINS, JOINT, JOYNT posted by Marjorie Smith on Thursday, June 10, 1999

I see the marriage of Daniel Higgins to Bridget Joint in Jo Daviess County around 1855. I can find no evidence they lived in Jo Daviess County. Two possible reasons: Perhaps they lived in Grant Co., Wisconsin which is only 7 miles from Galena (much closer than county seat Lancaster, WI.) Also Galena is a major steamboat port on the Mississippi River. Daniel Higgins may have gone ahead from New York and prepared a home in a northern state. They met in Galena and married. Perhaps!!! But I could be wrong.
