In the 1850 census CALEB EGGLESTON is shown as living in Vinegar Hill Twp. with his wife MARY and children WILLIAM. LOUISA, RUBEN, CAROLINE, AMELIA, and CHARLES. Another daughter LYDIA apparently remained behind in Ohio with her sister CATHERINE. The next family listed in this census is LIFE FARMER and wife EVELINE plus daughters ABIGAIL and MARY. In the 1860 census CALEB EGGLESTON has moved back to Ohio and LIFE FARMER has a different wife listed. His wife is LYDIA E. FARMER Also living with them is CAROLINE EGGLESTON, the daughter of CALEB EGGLESTON and possibly LYDIA'S sister. I believe that LIFE may have lost his wife and latter married his neighbors oldest daughter LYDIA. Does anyone have access to death and marriage record between 1850 and 1860 that would show the death of EVELINE FARMER and marriage of LIFE FARMER to LYDIA EGGLESTON? LYDIA died one year later, in 1861, and CAROLINE died in 1866. Thankyou in advance for any help.

I have Keller in my line, but know little about them. Margaratha Dorothea Kellerin and Susannah Keller daughters of Johannes Keller and Elizabeth Schneider. They are my g/g grandmother and my g/g/g grandmother mother. All are from Massbach, Unterfranken, Bavaria, Germanyaround the mid to late 1700's and they settled in Massbach, JoDavies County, Illinois. This is all I have on them so I don't know how they link to Michael but they must be related.

I have learned that Michael Keller of Derinda Twp., Jo Daviess County, IL was actually named Johann Michael and was the oldest child of Andreas Keller and Margaretha Ehrhardt of Massbach and Madenhausen, Unterfranken, Bavaria. In turn, Andreas Keller, B. 1801, was the son of Johannas Keller and Elisabetha Schneider, so indeed he is definitely related to your family..

I can't directly help you with your Temperly, but possible this information might help in the search. I have a Thomas Temperly b. 11/30/1878 d. 1966 in Counceil Hills, Il. He married Flora E. Sedgwick 3/8/1908. They had a son named Sydney b. 6/15/1921. Sydney had 5 children. Thomas lived on a farm near Council Hill which he inherited from his mother but I don't know her name. Both Thomas and his wife Flora are buried in Council Hill Cemetery. I don't have a middle name for Thomas but possible he can be eliminated from your group of Thomases based on his birth date. Good luck in your search. Sedgwick is the name I'm searching so I haven't done much with the Temperlys.

I have a column from a newspaper in which Grace Tucker tells of her Father's greatgrandfather, Benjamin Tucker, throwing tea into the harbor at the Boston Tea Party. He had a saddlery shop in Boston. She writes that the information was taken from a Tucker Genealogy published in 1895. I have searched (off an on) for this genealogy for 20 years, but with the internet, it has became an obsession. I am working on my Master’s thesis, which has to do with people who worked as surveyors for the General Land Office during the years 1837-1841. Harrison was a resident of Jo Daviess county (presumably Galena) at the time that he worked as a surveyor. He also served as state senator for that portion of Illinois from 1838-1845. I am hoping to find the following information: year and place of birth; year of arrival in Illinois; what other work he did; year and place of death; and where buried. What I would consider a goldmine is if I locate a descendent who may be in possession of letters written by him which refer to his work as a surveyor. In return, I would be happy to share any information I have gathered so far on him, and can send along photocopies from the field notes he kept as surveyor (available on microfilm at the Illinois State Archives). .
